Fudan University Research Institute of Brain Science and the Medical Research Group led by Professor Ma Lan of School of Medicine jointly found that intracellular G protein-coupled receptor encyme GRK2 can affect the early development of zebrafish embryos by regulating cell cycle proteins.
This new discovery reveals that GRK plays an essential role in the regulation of receptor signaling and embryo development; besides, GRK has a new feature that is non-dependent protein enzyme. The discovery, which lays the foundation for the further study in the mechanism that GRK involves in human embryo development, has been published in the latest issue of the International first-class magazine, "US National Academy of Sciences".
Professor Ma Lan is engaged in molecular neuro-pharmacology research work for many years. He found signal transduction of opioid receptor and new access to the role of opioids. Her research papers were published in Cell and other international journals and once received National Natural Science Award of China.
