Special Program will Educate Chinese Graduate Students on U.S. Foreign Policy
The National Committee on U.S.-China Relations’ Foreign Policy Colloquium introduces Chinese students to senior leaders and prominent organizations while they learn about foreign policy and the U.S.-China relationship.
A special program designed to educate Chinese graduate students and visiting scholars in the United States about the complex forces that shape American foreign policy will be hosted by the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations in cooperation with the George Washington University’s Sigur Center for Asian Studies from May 28-30, 2014 in Washington, D.C.
The eleventh annual United States Foreign Policy Colloquium will give Chinese graduate students from all academic disciplines an in-depth look at the creation of U.S. foreign policy from the perspectives of leading experts, policy makers, journalists and business and NGO leaders. Students will meet and hear from these leaders, visit the offices of government agencies, NGOs and think tanks, and develop new friendships with the approximately 150 program participants.
“Participating in the U.S. Foreign Policy Colloquium was an invaluable experience,” said Swarthmore College graduate student Shiran Shen, a 2012 Colloquium attendee. “I felt privileged to engage in intellectual conversations on United States foreign policy in general and U.S.-China relations in particular with high-profile scholars and policy makers, whose works I had read and discussed with my mentors and peers in college.”
Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until April 30. Registration for the program costs $100 ($150 after April 14). Food and lodging in Washington, D.C. are provided and partial travel reimbursements are available for those who qualify.
