  1. Virtual Internship Program with Australian culture seminars

Dates: Mon 31 May – Fri 9 July 2021

Credits: 6cps

We are excited to offer a 6-week virtual internship program, working with our industry partners and researchers at our University to provide students with a truly international work experience. Students will intern for 120 hours over the 6 week program, working remotely and checking in regularly with their supervisor on projects. Alongside this, they will take the coursework for our ARTS2600 Internship class, with 4 compulsory classes on a range of topics designed to support their experience, including Australian business culture, managing conflict in the workplace & how to market their internship to future employers. They will receive a USYD transcript for the class upon completion of the course. Alongside the compulsory content will also be a suite of optional lectures on Australian culture & business practice from leading academics at the University of Sydney, as well as some virtual social events to connect the students with each other, as well as USYD students.

  1. Virtual Semester (March- June 2021)

Additionally, we would like to remind our partners that we are also offering a virtual semester program in Semester 1, 2021. The program includes access to our 1500+ classes, a dedicated adviser, a virtual social program (complete with welcome packs & food tasting experiences posted to each student) and mentoring network to connect Study Abroad and Exchange students with full-degree USYD students. Our pilot program of 60 virtual students this semester was a resounding success and provided many students reaching the end of their mobility window a final opportunity to experience an overseas University’s culture and education system.

I must say that so far I have been amazed with USYD. The lecturers recognise the problems that online teaching might cause, especially the time difference and try their best to work around it. What I found most helpful is the accessibility of sources online through the library site. All in all I have no complaints, it is a bit disappointing that I cannot actually be there, but the university is doing a lot to keep me and other online students included.” – feedback from a current virtual semester student from King’s College London.
