Research on Lithium-ion Battery Published

Recently, Dr. Xia Yongyao and his colleagues from Fudan Institute of New Energies made great breakthrough in the filed of lithium-ion battery research, discovering the major course of poor circulation, the result of which was published in Nature Chemistry (DOI10.1038//NCHEM.763, August 8, 2010).

Xia’s team has been working on the research of Lithium-ion intercalation compound in the electrolyte solution since 2004. After a number of experiments, they discovered the main reason of battery capacity fading. They found that with the use of NISCON-type LiTi2 and Olive -type LiFePO4, the circulation could be highly enhanced. This research result solved the core problem of this kind of non-pollution battery, which provides the theory guide to the use of lithium-ion battery

Lithium-ion battery is an environment-friendly, highly efficient battery, which is expected to save the energy of wind and solar, supporting short-distance electric bus. However, due to its poor circulation, lithium-ion battery can hardly be used on daily basis. Dr. Xia and his team’s research result provided a new direction for future research.
