In People’s Republic of China, the appropriate visa for student is X2 visa (for students studying less than 6 months only) and X1 visa (for students studying more than 6 months, including cases that students have trips outside of Mainland China.)

In Home country

In the admission package you will have Visa Application Form White sheet and Yellow sheet.

White sheet is used for visa application and please ask JW202 white sheet back from visa officer after finishing visa application interview. Please keep the yellow sheet well with you too.

Please apply for an X2 or X1 visa in the local Chinese embassy or Consulate with the Admission Notice, JW202 Form (visa application form) and physical examination report (if required by local Chinese embassy or Consulate).

If you study at Fudan for one semester only AND you have no travel plans outside of Mainland China (Mainland China does not include Hongkong, Maocao and Taiwan), an X2 visa with one entrance valid for 6 months is highly recommended.

Otherwise, if you will study at Fudan for more than one semester (including extending your exchange study period), or if you have travel plans outside of Mainland China (namely to foreign countries or to Hongkong, Maocao and Taiwan), or if you enter China with inadequate visa category, you can apply for an X1 visa and you should have the physical examination and change it into residence permit when you arrive.

After your entry into China
